TO LISTEN :
All audio files are available in two formats:
The MP3's [192 Kbps, stereo] should play on any of your favourite digital audio players. We're not advising any particular software here as most of players will do the job just perfectly fine; but there are loads of FREE software players available on the internet to download such as WinAmp - www.winamp.com, iTunes - www.itunes.com, RealPlayer - www.real.com, etc. We would recommend you avoid Windows Media Player 9 (10 is ok!) which may not read the song titles, track markers, and other information included in the files.
FLAC (Free Lossless Audio Codec) is a file format which offers exact same CD quality audio. FLAC compresses standard audio files (WAV or AIFF) roughly to half their normal (CD) size with no loss in sound quality, it is more like say a ZIP file for audio. Unlike MP3 there is NO data left out in the encoding process.
However, FLAC files are very LARGE. (Typically a 2 hours show would take up to 600 MB in FLAC where high quality MP3's would be worth 165 MB).
This means we would strongly recommend ONLY LARGE BROADBAND users purchase FLAC files as it could take a jolly long time really to download if you're not on a faaaaassssst connection! (downloading a FLAC purchase with a "conventional" 56kbps modem could take 75 hours ;-).
Very few players would play FLAC files directly.
To play your FLAC files you would need first to "decode" them into standard audio files (WAV or AIFF) and then launch them in your favourite player or burn them onto CD.
All info and software in use to uncompress/decode can be found here : http://flac.sourceforge.net/ mostly in the Download section.
FYI, the VLC player is one of the few (FREE) players which would play FLAC files directly though. Info here.
If you want to create a CD of your download, most of the players listed above (as well as many programs usually included with home computers) will also allow you to burn the tracks to CD to play on your home or car CD player.
To access the samples of the web site (using the LISTEN! button), you will need the FREE Adobe Flash Player, available from: www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/
